Welcome to DormDock Logistics ("DormDock," "we," "us," or "our"). By booking our moving, storage, or cleaning services, you ("Customer," "Student," or "Guarantor") agree to the following Terms of Service. Please read these terms carefully before submitting your payment.
1. Independent Entity
DormDock Logistics is an independent, student-run enterprise. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) or University Housing.
2. Booking, Payments, and Cancellations
- Full Payment Required: To secure a reservation for our highly limited May move-out slots, 100% of the total quoted package (including add-ons) is required at the time of booking.
- Risk-Free Cancellation Guarantee: We understand plans change. You may cancel your reservation at any time up to 7 days before your scheduled move-out date for a full, no-questions-asked refund.
- Late Cancellations: Cancellations made within 7 days of the scheduled pickup date are non-refundable, as we have already locked in truck space and labor capacity for your specific date and turned away other customers.
3. Services Provided
DormDock provides short-term summer moving, storage, and optional cleaning services for the "Gap Week" transition period.
- Packing: Unless the Customer has purchased a specific packing add-on, the Customer is solely responsible for packing all personal items securely into standard moving boxes prior to our arrival.
- Pick-up/Drop-off: Standard packages include "Curbside" service. Customers must bring their items to the designated loading zone. Customers who purchase the Doorstep Concierge add-on will have items retrieved directly from and delivered directly to their dorm room/apartment.
4. Digital Receipt & $500 Liability Coverage
We take the security of your belongings seriously.
- The Digital Receipt: Upon pickup, DormDock staff will take 4-6 high-resolution photographs of your items and/or room condition. Every item is logged with a UID Inventory Tag.
- Liability Limit: DormDock provides baseline liability coverage up to $500 total per customer for items lost or damaged while in our direct care, custody, and control (in transit or in our climate-controlled storage facility).
- Exclusions: DormDock is NOT liable for: items improperly packed by the customer; internal damage to electronics where no external physical damage to the box or item is present; cash, jewelry, passports, or items of extraordinary value; liquids, perishables, or hazardous materials.
5. Move-Out Cleaning & Fine-Free Guarantee
If the Customer purchases the Move-Out Clean add-on or the Premium Suite package, DormDock will perform a deep clean of the dorm room after the items are removed.
- Fine-Free Guarantee: We guarantee that you will not receive a university fine for the cleanliness of your room. If UTK issues a fee specifically for cleaning, DormDock will reimburse the cost of the fine up to the cost of our cleaning add-on.
- Damage Exclusions: This guarantee applies only to cleanliness. DormDock is not responsible for university fines related to property damage, holes in walls, broken furniture, missing university property, or items left behind at the Customer's request.
6. Prohibited Items
Customers agree NOT to pack or store the following items:
- Firearms, ammunition, or explosives.
- Flammable liquids, chemicals, or hazardous materials.
- Perishable food items or open liquids.
- Illegal drugs or paraphernalia.
If prohibited items are discovered, DormDock reserves the right to dispose of them immediately without compensation and report illegal items to local authorities.
7. Abandonment of Property
DormDock agrees to store items for the duration of the standard summer term (May to August). If a Customer fails to schedule a delivery or pick up their items by September 15th, and fails to respond to our communication attempts, the items will be considered legally abandoned. DormDock reserves the right to sell, donate, or dispose of abandoned property to recover unpaid storage costs.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DormDock's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these services shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Customer to DormDock, or the $500 liability coverage limit, whichever is higher.
9. Dispute Resolution & Binding Arbitration
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY, AS IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.
- Binding Arbitration: Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms of Service, the breach thereof, or the services provided by DormDock Logistics shall be settled exclusively by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in accordance with its Commercial Arbitration Rules, rather than in a court of law.
- Class Action Waiver: You and DormDock Logistics agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. You expressly waive any right to participate in a class-action lawsuit against DormDock Logistics.
- Governing Law & Venue: This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee. The arbitration shall take place in Knox County, Tennessee. If for any reason a claim proceeds in court rather than in arbitration, we each waive any right to a jury trial and agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Knox County, Tennessee.
By completing the Stripe Checkout and paying in full, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, including the mandatory arbitration provision.
